ACADEMIC RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH INTEGRATIVE PROJECT - Spring 2016
•Analyzed the impact of adjusting for smoking using pack-years compared to smoking status in the relationship between leukocyte telomere length and all-cause mortality in the 1999 to 2002 cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The results of this and subsequent exploratory analyses were presented in a final paper and presentation to the department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE SENIOR THESIS IN MOLECULAR NEUROBIOLOGY - Fall 2012 - Spring 2013
•Designed and executed experiments using the model organism Xenopus laevis to study the effect Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) signal has on olfactory axons as well as to determine whether two distinct Shh co-receptors are present on the olfactory axons. This project spanned the 2012-2013 school year and resulted in a proposal presentation to the Haverford College biology department, a written proposal, a poster presentation, and a final research paper.

LABORATORY IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

•DETERMINING FUNCTION OF SHOTGUN IN ANOPHELES - Fall 2012
Designed a set of inner and outer DNA primers, used DNA concentration and purity data as well as sequence analysis to determine the function the gene shotgun in Anopheles gambiae gastrulation. This project culminated with a PowerPoint presentation of findings and potential future directions.
